The most recent information about Liverpool as the Premier League title race continues to go in the Reds’ favor on Easter Sunday
After a dreary 0-0 stalemate between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Easter Sunday, Roy Keane proclaimed Liverpool the “real winners.”
With a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in the day, the Reds passed the Gunners at the top of the Premier League. Danny Welbeck had given the game the lead, but goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah changed the course of play.
After the events in Manchester, Liverpool remained atop the table because there wasn’t much separating them from their championship contenders.
At the Etihad, City dominated for much of the match, although Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus was the closest to stealing the victory. Liverpool is now two points ahead of the Gunners and three ahead of the reigning champions as a result of the draw.
And following today’s games, Keane has declared Jurgen Klopp’s team the front-runners to win the English championship. “Liverpool are the real winners of today, obviously winning and watching these two teams draw,” he stated.
“Liverpool is going to be happy. We’re sad since, based on the level of players on the field, it appears like Liverpool will win the match based on the current table.
Arsenal may have a strong squad composition or a spotless record, but you have to be upset when players fall short of the high bar Manchester City, especially De Bruyne and Foden, have set for themselves over the past seven years.
“We expect these outstanding players to show up; they’ve just had a bad day and will have to settle for a point. I doubt it will be sufficient for City at the end of the season.”
Later in the show, Keane reiterated his prediction that Liverpool will win the championship, and the former captain of Manchester United said, “I think I need a drink.”
