Current injury news for Liverpool: Wataru Endō, a Japan international, is expected to return, giving Jürgen Klopp a boost, while other players are getting closer to doing the same.

Liverpool, fresh off a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United in midweek, enters its second encounter with Manchester United in three weeks full of confidence. Furthermore, the way United lost to Chelsea in the closing seconds of a wild game at Stamford Bridge will give Jürgen Klopp’s team hope.

With just minutes remained, United led 3-2, but Chelsea took three improbable points thanks to a penalty kick from Cole Palmer and another fast-paced goal from the 21-year-old, leaving United devastated. Erik ten Hag’s situation doesn’t get any easier as he must now gather his forces and welcome Liverpool back to Old Trafford.

After beating Sheffield United at Anfield, Liverpool is still atop the Premier League. The league standings is unchanged, with both Manchester City and Arsenal triumphing in their midweek matches. Liverpool leads both Arsenal and City by two and three points, respectively, going into their rematch later today.

With just eight games left in the season, Klopp’s team is under intense pressure to win every single one of them. However, it also means that any mistake on the part of the Reds might result in harsh punishment. Without a doubt, Liverpool’s performance in the interim will be greatly influenced by injuries. Here is the most recent information about Klopp’s players.

Wataru Endō
The Japan international took a knock during the victory over Brighton, so he wasn’t put at risk against Sheffield United on Thursday. Following the victory over the Blades, Klopp provided an update, indicating that Endō is expected to make a comeback against Manchester United.

Klopp added, “We rested him today,” according to the Liverpool Echo. “We felt that he might have had a chance for tonight, but there’s a good opportunity for Sunday if we don’t include him. That remains unchanged. Returning on April 7 is Manchester United.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota
Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold haven’t been with Liverpool since the middle of February, but they’re very close to getting back, and they should be back in training the next week. Alexander-Arnold hasn’t played since the victory over Burnley on February 10 due to a persistent knee problem.

Jota was taken off a stretcher during the 4-1 victory over Brentford the week after, but Klopp stated at this week’s news conference that they are making good progress. “The boys are doing well, Diogo [Jota] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold] are together in a group which helps both but it just looks like next week hopefully in parts of team training and then we will see the rest,” Klopp stated.

Although it seems like both are getting close to returning, the matchup with United may come too soon for them both. Mid-April is one possible return date (returning to some team training the following week).

Stefan Bajčetić and Alisson Becker
Alisson is expected to make a comeback within the next few weeks, according to Klopp. Due to a hamstring injury sustained while training, the Brazilian goalkeeper has missed Liverpool’s previous 12 games; Caoimhin Kelleher has filled him. Regarding Alisson, Klopp stated earlier this week: “I just see them through the fence, but that looks good as well. Ali is with the goalkeeper coaches.” I believe he is thinking about the team training for next week as well.”

After making his debut a year ago, Bajčetić’s season has been marred by injuries. Although he has only had two chances and hasn’t played since September, he has been working out with the club’s U21 team to increase his level of fitness. Next week, he is anticipated to return to the first team as well.

“Stefan [Bajčetić] trains now fully with the U21s this week,” Klopp stated. “That implies that we will bring him to us for training the following week, and then we’ll see. He is a significant addition to the group returning.” Having the gifted Spaniard back on the field will be pleasing. Dates of possible return: Later in April.

Thiago Alcântara, Ben Doak, and Joël Matip Matip has probably played his final game for the team after Klopp said it is doubtful the Cameroonian will play again before the season finishes. Matip is back in action at the team’s training facility after missing since December due to an ACL injury he sustained against Fulham.

The German remarked, “I believe that this is the finest time for him to have been hurt since, although it was really terrible at first, he overcame it and is now pain-free. However, since everything now takes time, I don’t think the season will last long enough for him.” Matip may never again don the red shirt because of his contract, which ends at the end of the current campaign. An extension seems doubtful.

This season, Thiago has only made one fleeting appearance for Arsenal and hasn’t been seen since.

The 32-year-old’s contract expires this summer, and according to Spanish publication Relevo, he has gone back to his own country to work with a personal physiotherapist in an effort to become healthy. Another player who is unlikely to see his contract renewed is Thiago, who may never play for the team again.

Doak, a forward from Scotland, had surgery in December to address a knee issue. He is unlikely to compete for his country at Euro 2024 and won’t be back until the end of the season. Dates of possible return: Not sure, but probably in the summer.
