Last summer, Dominik Szoboszlai cost $76 million (£60 million/€70 million) to transfer from RB Leipzig to Liverpool. The captain of Hungary has shared what Steven Gerrard said to him.

Dominik Szoboszlai, a midfielder for Liverpool, has disclosed that he received a text message from Steven Gerrard upon moving to Anfield. The legendary number eight shirt that Gerrard had worn before was donned by the captain of Hungary.

The number eight was owned by Naby Keïta, who left at the end of his contract last summer. And Szoboszlai understood he wanted to take on that role when he arrived from RB Leipzig. With a bit more consistency in the closing third, the 23-year-old might have a significant influence for Liverpool, based on the encouraging signals thus far.

Szoboszlai said, “[Alexis Mac Allister] took the number 10 because he signed before me.” “I didn’t even want to listen to the other person when they said the eight was open.”
Additionally, Szoboszlai received a text from Gerrard even though he didn’t message about the squad number. The Al Ettifaq manager extended an offer to assist the recent recruit in acclimating to life on Merseyside.

“[Gerrard] just text me if I need any help or anything he can help with in Liverpool, like find houses or whatever, then I could text him,” Szoboszlai stated to Stadium Astro. “When I first signed, he basically told me to let him know if I needed anything, but the club helps me with everything. I would text him if I needed anything.”

Szoboszlai has previously disclosed that the former Liverpool captain was his childhood hero and that he has a tattoo on his bicep that appears to be a quotation by Gerrard. But because of the history involved, it was a “heavy” number for him to take on at Anfield. He obviously possesses the confidence to carry that burden, and early indications point to his potential for great success.
