The most recent Joshua Kimmich transfer news comes amid rumors of Liverpool’s apparent pursuit, with Bayern Munich making its position known and the story taking an Everton turn.
If Liverpool decides to sign Joshua Kimmich, it may have Everton to thank for that. The rising story has taken a new turn with the announcement that the Bayern Munich player is “free to leave”.
Pre-season is rapidly approaching, and Arne Slot will soon be in charge of the team, deciding which areas Liverpool needs to bolster. Wataru Endo has already instructed him to sign a new holding midfield player, a position that Kimmich has recently come to own.
Naturally, he has also made an impression for Bayern Munich at right-back. By adding a hybrid player to his roster, Slot would have more control over how he deploys his vice captain, similar to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Furthermore, it appears that Kimmich will actually be available this summer. In his most recent update, Florian Plettenberg reaffirmed this, mentioning Liverpool as one of the 29-year-old’s preferred destinations:
“As previously reported and verified once more: Joshua Kimmich may depart FC Bayern this summer! Captain and consistent starter Kimmich is free to leave the team for the right price.
“There are no plans by Bayern to extend their contract past 2025. Regarding center midfield, Vincent Kompany has different ideas. Joao Palhinha, the coveted object of desire!
“Kimmich and Bauern are becoming further apart from one another. At the very least, now or next year. Kimmich would be prepared to enter the last year of his deal. He is only interested in joining Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Liverpool, or Manchester City.”
Meanwhile, a year after a deal fell through on deadline day, rumors have it that Bayern’s pursuit of Palhinha may falter once more. The Bavarians may consider Amadou Onana of Everton as a less expensive option, according to the ECHO.
Furthermore, Bayern will probably be more likely to sell this summer rather than allow Kimmich to see out his contract once it has a legitimate replacement in place, even though Kompany is not making plans around him anyhow. Even though the Palhinha deal fell through, Liverpool was still able to sign Ryan Gravenberch last year; however, Everton could at minimum grease the transfer wheels.
