Liverpool is ‘fully informed’ of the circumstances surrounding Matt O’Riley, according to journalist Rudy Galetti. It’s not surprising that Atalanta and Atletico Madrid are showing interest in the Celtic midfielder.
O’Riley had a tremendous season the previous year. Despite only scoring two penalties throughout his 18 goals in the Scottish Premiership, he managed to record 13 assists.
His 31 total goals and assists were a tremendous leap over his 15 from the previous campaign. Enough that some of Europe’s biggest clubs are now eyeing the English-born midfielder, who was called up to the Denmark national team.
“Matt O’Riley has been included on the lists of some European clubs,””Though the race for the Celtic player is still open, Atlanta is the team that made the initial move to acquire him.
“Liverpool and Atletico are well-informed about the situation of the Danish midfielder.”
Liverpool thinks about O’Riley.
Given that O’Riley recently had a season that is uncommon, this shouldn’t come as too much of a shock. With an amazing 18 goals and 13 assists from midfield, there’s every potential he can advance to an important league in Europe.
The fact that O’Riley is a homegrown player who excelled at Fulham is another attraction for Liverpool. As a result, he would check certain boxes during squad registration, which has an additional cost.
Furthermore, the fact that he is still under 24 years old implies that he has more room for improvement. With a talent like him on the upswing, Arne Slot and company might do wonders.
Since we haven’t seen any indication of what Celtic would actually want, the price is the only significant unknown. Since he is their star player, they will demand a sum that is almost unprecedented in this situation.
