The winger for Athletic Club, Nico Williams, has been strongly linked to a transfer to the Premier League, with reports indicating that both Barcelona and Liverpool are keen.

After an impressive showing at Euro 2024, Nico Williams is being calm in the face of circulating rumors that he is being linked to Barcelona and Liverpool. The 22-year-old winger scored two goals and provided an assist during the tournament, making him an important member of Spain’s squad.

In the 2-1 final match against England, he scored a pivotal goal that made sure Spain won. Williams’ remarkable play has not gone unnoticed, and with the summer transfer window now open, contacts with the Reds, Arsenal, and Barcelona have been made possible by his £49 million (€58 million) release clause.

Williams would be a welcomed addition to Anfield, but as far as the ECHO is aware, he is not a transfer target at this time. Ernesto Valverde, the manager of Athletic Club, has stated unequivocally that Williams is not up for grabs despite the rumors.

Williams recently shared a picture of a beautiful sunset on a boat to his Instagram story, adding the words “calm down” and an emoji of a head massage. Williams has made 122 appearances for Athletic Club after rising through the youth ranks, scoring 20 goals and dishing out 26 assists.

Williams has three years left on his contract, so Valverde is sure he’ll stick with Athletic Club. “I have no doubts about Nico,” he declared. He seemed well and content.

We have a lot of hurdles this year, and Nico will no doubt relish taking on them. Since the market will remain open until the end of August, he has not been the only participant to have to put up with rumors.”

Although other teams could be interested in him because he’s a fantastic player, he’s happy here and we are too. We are looking forward to Nico’s return after the vacations.”

Even with Valverde’s encouraging remarks, rumors about Barcelona’s interest persist. Alejandro Balde, Gavi, and Lamine Yamal, three players for Barcelona, have all reacted to Williams’ most recent Instagram picture, which showed him wearing an Athletic shirt and a Euro 2024 winners’ medal with the words, “From the hood to the glory.” The plan of God is flawless.
