Liverpool resumed training at the AXA Training Centre on Friday in preparation for their trip to Aston Villa on Monday night.
Diogo Jota and Andy Robertson were not present at practice on Friday as Liverpool continued to get ready for their match against Aston Villa on Monday.
Since sustaining an injury during the Reds’ 3-1 away triumph at Fulham last month, the Portuguese has not played. He appears to be missing the trip to Villa Park and may not have enough time to recover in time for Jurgen Klopp’s last game as Liverpool manager against Wolves the following Saturday. He has been absent from training once more.
Robertson was not visible in the most recent training images taken at the AXA Training Center. On Friday morning, though, the Scot was spotted at the team’s headquarters in training attire, handling media relations alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold as the ECHO attended Klopp’s pre-game news conference.
The German did not provide an update on his injuries during Friday’s press conference, thus it is unknown why Robertson was not present.
Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ben Doak were also out due to long-term injuries, thus the two weren’t the only players missing.
Darwin Nunez was beaming somewhere after making news off the field for the past week.
Following his clear-cut opportunity to win the Reds’ match against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, the striker removed all but one of his Instagram photos featuring the team. It is thought that his measures are a reaction to criticism he has received online. He has also restricted who can comment on his Instagram posts and blocked some fan accounts on Twitter.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Klopp would stand by the striker and refute rumors regarding his future. Even though he acknowledged that Nunez was “not happy” with his previous performance, the striker was upbeat before Liverpool’s season’s penultimate match.
