Although RB Leipzig made an initial offer that Liverpool rejected out of hand, formal negotiations have taken place, and the Bundesliga team is anticipated to make another bid.
Liverpool has rejected RB Leipzig’s offer for one of its young, talented players. Nonetheless, “real conversations” have taken place.
Since then, the Reds have had a close relationship with the Red Bull network, having signed Takumi Minamino, Naby Keita, and Ibrahima Konate from Leipzig or Salzburg. Sadio Mane also made an impression at the Austrian team, but he traveled via Southampton to get to Liverpool.
Regretfully, the previous business transaction between the two did not proceed as expected. Fabio Carvalho was sent on a season-long loan by Liverpool to RB Leipzig in the summer of last year, but the attacking midfielder’s stint was terminated in January due to his lack of playing time.
Carvalho left for Hull City, where he was much more successful. At the MKM Stadium, he met up with Tyler Morton, another Liverpool loanee.
Leipzig is currently eager to have Morton in the group. Florian Plettenberg reports that “concrete talks” have occurred and the midfield player “can really imagine” moving forward.
You would have assumed that Carvalho was whispering advice to him. However, it isn’t the present area of contention; Liverpool turned down RB Leipzig’s initial offer because it didn’t agree with one specific term.
Leipzig is advocating for a loan with a purchase option. Liverpool is not considering this loan arrangement.”
Why Liverpool is against this kind of trade is unknown. Given the 21-year-old’s demonstrated promise, the logical inference would be that it is not yet willing to lose Morton permanently, but it might also be an attempt to obtain a guaranteed fee rather than an option.
Morton now appears poised to report for pre-season at the beginning of next week, as there is no agreement in place. In order to determine whether he has a part to play at Liverpool this season, Arne Slot would have the opportunity to interview him in person.
