Earlier this summer, Alexis Mac Allister, a midfielder for Liverpool, was linked to a transfer to Real Madrid.
Following the completion of the Copa America, the father of Argentina international Alexis Mac Allister has confirmed his son’s future with Liverpool, after the player was linked to a move to Real Madrid earlier this summer. After the Argentine’s release clause was activated, the Reds bought the 25-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion in June 2023 for a reported £35 million. The midfielder went on to have a standout debut season in Merseyside.
Despite frequently playing as a number six instead of his preferred place further forward, he won the League Cup and finished as one of Liverpool’s performers of the season with seven goals and seven assists from 46 appearances. Real Madrid is apparently interested in Mac Allister due to his impressive performance.
Although he didn’t rule out a future move to the Bernabeu, the World Cup winner’s father, Carlos, has vowed that the midfielder will remain with Liverpool for the upcoming season.
Mac Allister Snr. told the Egyptian website MSR, “Alexis is performing very well at Liverpool, and this is the important thing to say at the moment.” “Alexis and Real Madrid are not in negotiations, and the player will play for Liverpool in the upcoming campaign.
“If future offers arrive to sign Alexis, we will discuss them with Liverpool’s management first.”
Earlier in the summer, after Real Madrid was originally linked to Mac Allister in transfer rumors, the player declared his happiness at Liverpool.
He told ESPN Argentina in May, “I don’t talk about assumptions, I’m very happy at Liverpool.” “I think it was a good season individually, then we had some objectives that we couldn’t meet, but I still think it was a very good season.”
He reiterated similar views to the Argentine news source TyC Sports last month, saying: “Everything goes smoothly, it’s not a club with haughty members, and everyone strives to support you as much as they can.
“Everything is different on the field because, even in beautiful weather, you still have to play well on the inside. I had to play a variety of positions, and I really enjoyed it. I am content to be a part of a team the size of Liverpool.”
Argentina defeated Colombia 1-0 AET in the Copa America final last weekend thanks in large part to Mac Allister. After his close-season international trips, he was given a three-week sabbatical. He will now begin pre-season training with Liverpool at the beginning of August.
