The midfield player has signed terms with Juventus, but the Italian team needs to complete another transfer before moving forward with the deal. This is the most recent transfer news involving Liverpool.
Liverpool may try to hijack their summer transfer attempt for Teun Koopmeiners by taking advantage of a transfer standoff involving Juventus. Throughout the summer, the midfield player and the Reds have been connected.
The Dutchman, however, is rumored to have agreed on personal terms with the Italian powerhouse Juventus, making them his preferred destination. The midfield player is reportedly seeking a summer transfer fee of €60 million (£50 million) from Atalanta; however, the club may lower this asking price to €55 million (£46 million) or possibly €40 million (£33.5m).
This is where Juventus may run into issues. According to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus plans to formally bid for the player as soon as they have finished selling Matias Soule in order to raise money.
According to reports, Leicester City and Roma are in competition for the 21-year-old. The Italian media is abuzz with speculation about Soule’s future. Gazzetta dello Sport claims Roma has made an offer of €25 million (£21 million) plus bonuses, which is the same amount as Leicester’s first offer.
It has been reported in the past that Juventus prefers to sell to the Foxes because of the better economic climate and the fact that they won’t be selling to a rival, and Leicester is prepared to offer more. Gazzetta adds that Soule would rather remain in Italy and join Roma.
As a result, there is now a transfer standoff involving the three teams for the winger. This is something Liverpool could be able to exploit.
The Reds may try to swoop in and persuade Koopmeiners to reconsider his future plans while Juventus waits for the deal. While Juventus waits for the sale, they could arrange a transfer if they can come to an agreement on a price with Atalanta then they could set up a transfer while Juve still waits for the sale of Soule to go through.
Things can change quickly in any transfer situation. Therefore, Liverpool will have to act quickly if they hope to take advantage of the delay.
