Defender Lutsharel Geertruida of Feyenoord has been linked to a transfer to Liverpool.
One of Liverpool’s former players has previously explained to the team why Feyenoord star Lutsharel Geertruida is someone they should sign.
According to a report published on Wednesday by the Dutch magazine Algemeen Dagblad, the Reds are considering signing the defender this summer. The 23-year-old, who plays right back for Feyenoord, can also play center back when necessary.
Even though there has only recently been conjecture tying Geertruida to a move to Anfield, Liverpool was advised more than a year ago that he was a player worth considering.
Anfield legend Dirk Kuyt discussed the quality in the Eredivisie in an exclusive interview back in April 2023. He stated, “I am a Feyenoord man, and they are doing very well at the moment.”
“They have Arne Slot as a very excellent manager, and some of the younger lads, like Lutsharel Geertruida and Orkun Kokcu, are making a lot of progress and playing really well.
“Top European teams will quickly show interest in supporting them. I sincerely hope Liverpool is considering Feyenoord players, and I can serve as an example.
Both Kokcu and Geertruida were on my team when I was the Under-19s coach. We were competing against players like Kenneth Taylor and Jurrien Timber of Ajax.
“You can see which players have talent and that they will have bright careers. Everyone thought Gakpo was a gifted player and that one day he would play for a team like Liverpool after seeing him play at the young level.
