During the Jurgen Klopp era, the Reds lost players like James Milner, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Naby Keita who had pivotal roles on Merseyside.

Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch took their places.

Football Insider reports that Liverpool wants to bolster their midfield once more in preparation for the upcoming season, despite the fact that these four new players are relatively recent additions.

As the CEO of Football for Fenway Sports Group, Michael Edwards has rejoined the Premier League team, and Richard Hughes will take over as Liverpool’s new sports director. According to insiders who spoke to Football Insider, the two already have targets in mind and want to get them to Anfield as soon as feasible. An “early-window signing is highly likely”.

Liverpool’s two center midfielders are quite talented, especially now that Mac Allister has been thrust into the starting lineup. This season, the Argentina international has been excellent for the Reds and has given Klopp the spark of creativity that he has been lacking for years.

The six role at Anfield is a cause for concern because there isn’t enough good cover for that position. Throughout the second half of the season, Endo has been outstanding in the role; yet, when the Japanese star is not there, Liverpool is left without a backup because Ryan Gravenberch has not lived up to expectations.

For the upcoming campaign, Liverpool would benefit greatly from the addition of a top-tier defensive midfield player, especially since Endo would be ready to step in when the prospective new arrival is sidelined.
