Man Utd overcame Luton Town in the Premier League by going above and beyond, but it could have been much simpler.
Rasmus Hojlund acknowledges he was a little let down that Manchester United didn’t win by a larger margin, but he was glad to contribute to another significant victory over Luton Town.
At Kenilworth Road, United jumped out to an early two goal lead thanks to a masterful brace from Hojlund, before Carlton Morris gave the home team a response.
Both teams would go on to have numerous more opportunities to win the match, including one from Hojlund, whose close-range attempt in the second half was foiled by Thomas Kaminski.
After around the Luton ‘keeper, Bruno Fernandes had a chance to score, but Albert Sambi Lokonga blocked his attempt. Alejandro Garnacho also squandered a fantastic one-on-one opportunity with Kaminski.
Although United managed to secure three more points, Hojlund has cautioned that they must not allow themselves to lose again if they hope to finish the season well.
The first three points are the most crucial. He said to BBC’s Match of the Day, “I am happy because I am there to help the team.” We are momentarily disconnecting. We are aware that the group and the team are playing well right now. Today, we put a lot of strain on ourselves.
“I was so anxious, so I kept rubbing my hands together. Though a little fortunate, I’m thankful for the victory nonetheless.
“I needed to get in the back of the net since I had a chance myself. We must, of course, score those. However, I have no doubt that we will regroup and prove to Old Trafford our true abilities the following week.”
